apostille

Apostille, ie certificate accordingly (legalization) of documents issued in the territory of one state for use in another states (unless otherwise stipulated by international agreements, which includes the state).

The most widely used method of identification documents 2 - consular legalization and apostille. The difference lies in the fact that consular legalization is a more lengthy procedure and requires a large number of legal actions in various institutions of the Republic of Belarus and the State where the document will be used.

International treaties provided for a simplified procedure for registration of documents. Thus, the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961, waives the requirement of consular legalization documents that are intended for use in a State party to the Hague Convention. To authenticate the document must be stamped apostile by competent authority of the government. The documents bear a special stamp that certifies the authenticity of the signature of the person signing the document, its position and identity of the seal or stamp which the document (the Convention apostille stamp set form a square of not less than 9 X 9 cm). Translation and legalization of documents are closely related. For, before using a legal document in the destination country a translation is often is required.

The right of the apostille certifications in the Belarus Republic shall have the respective ministries.

*- In addition to legalization, there is Treaty Mutual Legal Assistance that have signed as an alternative agreement of mutual legal assistance. In cases where the existence of such a treaty legalizing is not required.
